As the reality of the prevalence of Dissociative Identity Disorder and Satanic Ritual Abuse has increasingly come to my awareness during recent years I have made an effort to read and study available materials, attend workshops and co-counsel with those more experienced than I, in order to become better equipped to counsel and minister to those who have been wounded in this way. When Karen Sackett's books, "Ministering to the Shattered: A Biblical Perspective", and "Your Journey to Freedom" became available I ordered them and promptly read through both of them. I have found her material to be exactly what I needed to help recognize this condition where it exists and to proceed with a greater sense of direction in ministering to survivors. In humility, Karen gives homage to the Lord Jesus as the Wonderful Counselor and healer, directs the focus on Him and uses Scripture generously throughout her books. Although she says there is no format, (which is good to know in order to avoid the mistake of trying to control the process), I have found her books to be very well organized, giving clear guidelines, in stages, defining terms and using diagrams to help both the client and the counselor. She doesn't obscure the reality of anticipated obstacles and pitfalls, particularly from the demonic realm, nor does she lead one to believe that this is an easy process. But rather than discouragement there is hope. By trusting the Holy Spirit's guidance and keeping focused on the Lord, victory and freedom can be expected. I'm very grateful for these resources and continue to refer to them in order to become more knowledgeable and better equipped to minister to the dissociated and survivors of SRA. Leila Gilman, Ph.D.
